Facing Burnouts and Why Not to Avoid It

Dealing with mental burnout is challenging, often hitting us unexpectedly. We live in a world where filling every moment with productive work can feel essential to success. Yet, we sometimes prioritize everything but ourselves. We would work so hard in a job, task, relationship while ignoring our bodies’ signals to slow down and recharge.

Burnout doesn’t just happen in the workplace; it can arise in any area of life. Burn outs find us when we are unstable, helpless, and have a lack of rest. Burn out finds us reminding us that we’re carrying too much weight without the support we need.

One way to view burnout is as a warning. Burn out reminds us to reflect on how we are currently living. Burn out helps us take a step back in figuring out if this is the right path for us. We should embrace burn outs as an invitation to pause.

I know that we all hate burns out, it puts us in despair and tells us how unworthy we are. We even try to avoid a burn out. We tell ourselves that only the “weak” experience burnout, and that the best way forward is to push through it. But I see it differently. I view burnout as a pit stop where ignoring its signs can lead to a much darker place, like depression.  Burnout mostly affects an aspect of your life while depression would gulp life into a blackhole making it hard to escape.

So please take the burn out as a sign for you to rest. A sign for you to have a self care night where you take the time to deeply love yourself.

Burnout isn’t here to make you feel defeated; it’s here to guide you back to a path that serves you better. Embrace it as a necessary pause on your journey toward a fulfilling life.
